Livelihood Promotion


Every year, hordes of people, chiefly, families of marginalized farmers, farm labourers and unemployed youths from drought-hit villages of Maharashtra seasonally migrate to cities in search of livelihood. Moreover, their lives in the cities are full of struggle to live each day as it comes. This mandatory relocation is painful and ruins the self-worth of people. Looking at this grim and deteriorating situation, the pressing need, we felt, is to create opportunities for gainful self-employment at the village level which would provide a steady source of income.

 

Anandwan’s mission has always been to restore the dignity of socially outcast people by helping them to enhance their livelihood capabilities and helping them empower themselves to contribute back to the society constructively. Taking this mission forward, residential vocational training in various trades as Electrical fitting & Plumbing, Metal Fabrication, Handicrafts, Dairy, Tailoring, Handloom etc., is provided at Anandwan to the villagers from economically backward, drought-hit regions of Maharashtra under Anandwan Samajbhan Abhiyan. The wishful thinking behind this is ~ once these people finish the training, they would then go back and create industrial clusters which would facilitate more and more people from these villages to earn their living with dignity.
